JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 274 new COVID-19 cases and 32 new deaths Monday, Aug. 31.
MSDH updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.
New COVID-19-related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Sunday:

- Tishomingo - 1
Nineteen confirmed COVID-19 related deaths between July 8 and August 24, identified from death certificate reports.

As of Monday, Aug. 31, there have been 82,950 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 2,473 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 62,707 recoveries. The MSDH usually updates its estimated recoveries total once a week. As of Monday morning, MSDH has yet to update its recoveries total.
