HOULKA, Miss. (WTVA) - Houlka has canceled a popular Halloween event due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Board of Alderman decided to cancel the annual “trunk-or-treat” event.

"We just need to be safe and be cautious," Alderman Dustin Eaton said.
Alderman K.C. Gates agreed.
He said large gatherings like the trunk-or-treat event usually brings in a large number of children.
“The best thing for the community to do right now is wait for cases to decrease,” Gates added.
He urged families to find safe ways to celebrate the holiday and encourages the tradition of door-to-door trick-or-treating.
Keep in mind medical experts are encouraging all children to wear a non-costume mask or face covering to prevent the spread of the virus.
