MILLPORT, Ala. (WTVA)- Fans enjoyed the first high school football game in Lamar County, Al.
It's the first night of high school football for fans in Lamar County.
Schools in Mississippi did not start the season yet, Alabama schools have to follow a new set of guidelines for the football games.
Superintendent Vance Herron of the Lamar County School District said fans at the South Lamar High School football game had to abide by a new set of rules Friday.
“Our children and our community need to get out and socialize a little bit," he said. "But in the meantime, with that socialization all guidelines need to be followed.”
Supporters will need to follow new guidelines for the rest of this season.
“You’re gonna have to wear a mask, we also are required to sit with our own household,” he said.
Vance Herron said in addition to face coverings and social distancing, fans need to keep their children beside them. This year kids won't be able to run around like they used to.
If someone doesn't follow the rules they will be asked to leave.
Herron said all students, athletes and employees in the school district are healthy.
