JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — The Mississippi State Department of Health reports the first coronavirus case in Northeast Mississippi.
According to the state, one case is in Monroe County.
The health department did not reveal who this person is or where this person specifically lives.
However, Tronox confirmed that one of its employees at the Hamilton plant tested positive for the virus.
"The employee reported to the site medical suite with a fever on Wednesday, March 11 and was promptly sent home," said Tronox Senior Vice President Melissa Zona. "The individual subsequently has been hospitalized and is currently undergoing treatment."
The company added it decontaminated the medical suite and the employee's work area. Also, any employees who had close contact with that affected employee are away from work and monitoring their health at home.
