VERONA, Miss. (WTVA) — Verona is the latest municipality to require people to wear a face covering in public.
City Clerk Pamela Shumpert said leaders passed an executive order that goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Thursday.
The order mandates the use of masks and face coverings while in public and at any business to stop the spread of coronavirus.
Shumpert said all businesses will have a letter posted on their doors about the new policy.
She added Verona city leaders took this approach because of the rise in coronavirus cases.
According to Shumpert, the hope is that every individual will make responsible decisions for the sake of the community by wearing a mask in public.
