Elderly woman gets to see her dog while under quarantine

Being stuck inside amid the coronavirus outbreak, an elderly woman requested to see her dog.

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - A woman who is quarantined inside her assisted living home in Columbus got the chance to see her dog.

Amy Hoffman shared the video of the encounter with WTVA Thursday.

The video shows the woman looking out a window and tapping it as her 15-year-old basset hound, named Lucy, roamed outside.

Hoffman identified the woman as Dr. Barbara Garrett, the longtime tennis coach at Mississippi University for Women. According to the university's website, its tennis courts are named in her honor.

Being stuck inside amid the coronavirus outbreak, Garrett requested to see Lucy and Hoffman was more than happy to help.

Hoffman said Lucy eventually recognized Garrett through the window.
