TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — Doctor Anthony Fauci said the pause on the Johnson and Johnson vaccine should not stop Mississippians from getting vaccinated for the coronavirus.
"I think the people in Mississippi need to appreciate that this is an exceedingly rare event, is literally less than one per million people, which is quite extraordinary," said Fauci in discussing the six reported blood clots that led to the federal government's recommendation.
President Biden's chief medical adviser talked about coronavirus vaccines Wednesday with WTVA 9 News.
He not only recommended the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines but expressed his faith in the government's system to review vaccines.
"I think the people in Mississippi should realize that the system that follows this for safety is such a strict system, that safety trumps everything else," said Fauci.
