CALHOUN CITY, MISS. ( WTVA ) - Its been a hectic semester for students in Calhoun City...after starting in the classroom and then switching to virtual learning because of the coronavirus.
On Wednesday, August 25, 2021, the kids are back at school.
More than 400 students returned to the classroom on Tuesday.
School leaders decided on a mask mandate as a health and safety precaution for both students and staff.
Still.....First year principal, L'Kenna Whitehead, said they are excited to be back.
"It feels great to have the kids back in the building...these are some great kids here at Calhoun City High School. The main thing we are here for is to teach students, so there are a lot of things that can effect that and that's where safety order instructions come in. So, we have been very proactive making sure our kids are safe," Whitehead said.
The high school was set to play Houston in football this Friday but leaders canceled that game.
