Belhaven University offers perk to keep students amid virus

A private university in Mississippi is trying to attract and retain students during the cornavirus pandemic by providing full-tuition scholarships for people to earn graduate degrees online.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A private university in Mississippi is trying to attract and retain students during the cornavirus pandemic by providing full-tuition scholarships for people to earn graduate degrees online.

Belhaven University President Roger Parrott says in a news release that the free master's degree is a way to help students during difficult times.

The scholarship is for first-year students, transfer students and all returning students who enroll for the fall semester’s traditional campus program.

Students must remain enrolled every semester as a full-time, traditional-campus student until they graduate from Belhaven.

The full-tuition scholarship can be used for any Belhaven University online master’s degree.
