AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) - The mayor of Amory said he is proud of the way the city's residents are pushing through, despite the coronavirus pandemic.
“I’ve been very proud with how our small town has sort of rolled with the punches through the pandemic,” Mayor Brad Blalock said.
Like the rest of the country, and world, the past few months have been difficult.
He’s proud of the businesses.
“Our sales tax has done relatively well during an uncertain time.”
Blalock said he is proud that merchants and business owners continue to find creative ways to provide services.
He also thanked residents for supporting small businesses.
“I’m pleased with how we handled things. Of course, we can always do better with anything that we try to do, um, but for right now, I’m very pleased.”
As for additional help, the mayor said the city already applied and received grants from the state’s coronavirus relief program.
