AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) - Amory High School students will attend a few classes virtually starting Friday due to positive coronavirus cases.
School Superintendent Ken Byars said the decision is a management precaution.
He said a small number of cases occurred within the high school.
"We have a mixture of student cases and employee cases, and on top of that, other employees that have had to be quarantined due to their spouse or someone in their home."
The school will be fully virtual from Friday to Wednesday of next week.
Students will not attend school on Monday due to staff development. And students have been attending virtual classes on Wednesdays since the start of school.
Extracurricular activities will continue as normal.
"We do not have an outbreak situation,” Byars said. “We don't have positive cases on our athletic teams right now."
This does not affect any other schools in the Amory School District at this time. However, he warns parents to be flexible in case that changes.
