ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) - All extracurricular activities at Aberdeen High School have been suspended until further notice after a student-athlete was exposed to the coronavirus.
"At one time when we made the decision, we thought it was a student, but we have since got confirmation that it was the parent that had a confirmed case of COVID-19," Aberdeen School Superintendent Jeff Clay said.

The football team and basketball teams have been the only extracurricular activities on campus.
Clay did not confirm what team the student-athlete was on.
"The student was on campus Friday and he called the coach yesterday and stayed home."
Clay hopes athletes can return in two weeks for practice but that is not certain. School district administrators are working to clean and sanitize all exposed areas.
The locker rooms are closed. The teams were only in the gym and weight rooms during their workouts.
Athletes are working on social distancing at practices as well. Clay said every student-athlete has his or her own water bottle and towel.
He talked to the football staff Tuesday morning, asking if they received any new information from the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) on guidance for the fall. He said they have not.
