The Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) states that 19-year-old Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs and 18-year-old Cortavious Lawayne Hobbs were located and arrested without incident around 1:20 a.m this morning, ending the nearly 12 hour long manhunt.

According to the Covington County sheriff’s office, the incident began on Monday afternoon when deputies attempted to execute a traffic stop on a blue SUV around 2:45 p.m. However, the SUV did not stop, leading deputies on a chase.

During the pursuit, the sheriff’s office said the SUV “became stuck,” leading to the driver getting out with his hands up. Other people got out of the SUV, and shots were fired at deputies on the scene.

Smith County Sheriff Joel Houston confirmed the shooting, which happened at the Greer’s CashSaver, located on 406 Main Street.

The deputy who was shot is currently in I.C.U. and listed as stable.
