Flood Advisory

Areas Affected: Lamar

NWS Birmingham (Northern Alabama)

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for... Fayette County in west central Alabama... East central Lamar County in west central Alabama...

* Until 1000 PM CDT.

* At 755 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. One to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Winfield, Fayette, Berry, Glen Allen, Belk, Bankston, Boley Springs, Blooming Grove, Bluff, Cody, Wayside, Richard Arthur Field, Fayette County Public Lake, Bevill State College Fayette, Hubbertville and Fowlers Crossroads.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flood Advisory for... Northwestern Walker County in central Alabama... East central Marion County in northwestern Alabama... Southern Winston County in northwestern Alabama...

* Until 915 PM CDT.

* At 720 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Jasper, Lynn, Brilliant, Nauvoo, Curry, Camp McDowell, Smith Dam, Ashbank, Smith Lake, Poplar Springs, Lake Buttahatchee, Natural Bridge, Maple Branch, Clear Creek, Little Dismal Creek, Coon Creek, Lupton, Battle Branch, Piney Grove and Black Pond.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
