Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - Sydney Leroux scored in the 78th minute at Investors Group Field on Thursday to help the United States women's national team salvage a 1-1 draw in a friendly match with Canada.

The U.S. women's 29-match unbeaten run against Canada appeared to be in jeopardy when Kadeisha Buchanan handed the hosts the lead in the 35th minute, heading home a corner kick delivered by Diana Matheson.

But the visitors answered 12 minutes from time as Vancouver-born Leroux collected a failed clearance and smashed a right-footed shot into the back of the net.

Leroux's strike, her sixth goal of 2014, was enough to help the Americans extend their unbeaten run against Canada to 30 games.

The U.S. women's national team will return to action on June 14 for a friendly match against France.
