Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Toronto FC announced THursday that the club has parted ways with President and General Manager Kevin Payne.

"I have a great deal of respect for Kevin and thank him for his contributions with TFC, but he and I have mutually agreed that the team will be moving in a different direction as we prepare for the 2014 season," said Tim Leiweke, President & CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. "Kevin and I both share a passion for MLS soccer and he will play a role in the transition as we work to put the best team on the pitch for our supporters.

"By delaying the season seat holder renewal process until January, we want to show our supporters that they do come first to us. I know the turnover has been frustrating to them, but my goal with every move we make this off-season is to return the tremendous support that they have shown this team."

Payne joined Toronto after 17 seasons with D.C. United where the club won 12 domestic and international championships, including four MLS Cup titles.
