Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - An upper-body ailment has sent New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias to injured reserve, the team announced Monday.
Elias is still dealing with the effects of a hard hit into the boards by Pittsburgh's Tanner Glass during last Tuesday's game against the Penguins. The 18-year veteran has sat out New Jersey's last two contests due to the injury.
The 37-year-old Czech also missed six straight games with an upper-body issue earlier this season. In 33 games thus far in 2013-14, Elias has registered seven goals and 18 assists.
New Jersey recalled rookie defenseman Eric Gelinas from Albany of the American Hockey League to fill the available roster spot.
