El Segundo, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson has been cleared for contact, the most significant step towards returning to action following his second concussion of the season.
Eriksson has been sidelined since Dec. 7, when he was the recipient of a clean, but hard, open-ice hit from Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik.
"It's definitely a good feeling to be back at it. I dealt with some contact today in practice," Eriksson said. "We'll see how long I have until I play a game. Since I've been feeling good now for a week, I've been doing a lot of conditioning. I did an ImPACT test yesterday and everything went well."
The 28-year-old Finn missed five games in October and November after taking a vicious elbow to the head from Sabres enforcer John Scott, an action which drew a 10-game suspension.
Boston has two more games remaining on its current road trip, in Los Angeles on Thursday and in San Jose on Saturday.
