Recap: Calgary vs. Minnesota

Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Mikko Koivu scored 1:50 into overtime to give the Minnesota Wild a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday.

Marco Scandella passed the puck over to the right wing as he brought it into the Calgary zone for Charlie Coyle, who then dropped the puck back to Koivu. From the left circle, Koivu found the back of the net for the win.

Justin Fontaine and Matt Dumba also scored for the Wild, who have won three of four. Devan Dubnyk allowed two goals on 37 shots.

"Even that one point, it's huge, especially against a team that we're chasing for the playoffs," said Koivu.

Lance Bouma and Jiri Hudler lit the lamp for the Flames, who had won three of four coming into the game. Jonas Hiller stopped 26 shots in the loss.

The Wild jumped on top 8:40 into the game off a rush play that started when Coyle brought the puck in down the left wing. He sent a pass to the left circle for Thomas Vanek, who chipped a bouncing backhand to the right side where Fontaine whacked it in for his fifth of the year.

Minnesota took a 2-0 lead three minutes later as Dumba's wrister from the right wing on the fly beat Hiller for his third of the season.

Calgary got one back with 2:52 to play in the opening frame when Dennis Wideman blasted a shot on net from the high slot that Hudler deflected between the pads of Dubnyk for his 19th goal of the season.

"It's a big point," said Flames coach Bob Hartley. "We had two missed assignments on their first two goals... (In the) second and third period, I thought we had the momentum."

The second period passed without a goal, but the Flames were able to tie the game halfway through the third as Bouma's quick snap shot from the left wing went into the right corner of the net for his 11th on the season.
