Recap: Dallas vs. San Jose
Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Brent Burns scored two of San Jose's four third-period goals as the Sharks rallied past the Dallas Stars, 5-3.
Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton also lit the lamp in the third stanza for the Sharks, who started a seven-game road trip on Saturday. James Sheppard added one goal and an assist.
"We just really wanted it," Sheppard said. "We came out hard. We just kept to the same thing and knew that if we played our game in the third that we had a chance, so we just played the whole time."
Alex Stalock made 37 saves for San Jose.
Tyler Seguin recorded a hat trick for the Stars, who have lost seven in a row (0-5-2). Anders Lindback stopped 24-of-28 shots.
"It's beyond frustrating," Stars center Jason Spezza said. "We should be good at home. We've got to go on the road and get some wins now."
Marleau's power-play goal at 3:51 of the third cut San Jose's deficit to 3-2. Joe Pavelski's shot from the slot was stopped by Lindback, but Marleau put home the rebound.
Burns tied it at 6:38 when he beat Lindback with a one-timer from the left circle.
Burns' second goal gave the Sharks the lead for good, when he put home a rebound from the right circle at 10:23 to make it 4-3.
Thornton's empty-netter with 41.5 seconds remaining wrapped up the victory for San Jose.
Seguin opened the scoring 8:03 into the first period when Sergei Gonchar's blast from the right point deflected off his shoulder and went past Stalock.
He scored from the right circle at 10:26, but Sheppard cut the gap to 2-1 at 17:14.
Seguin completed his hat trick at 15:28 of the second when he jammed in the rebound of Spezza's shot from the left circle for a power-play goal.Game Notes
