Recap: Columbus vs. Dallas
Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Loui Eriksson scored with 1:57 to play in overtime as the Dallas Stars took a 5-4 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
In the extra session, Dallas' Brenden Dillon sent a pass from the high slot off the right boards where Derek Roy one-timed it on net. The shot was stopped, but Eriksson was able to reach the puck and tuck it in past the right pad of Sergei Bobrovsky for the win.
"As long as we keep getting it on net we'll keep getting goals," said Eriksson. "They're not always going to be the prettiest goals, but as long as they're going in and we can get wins it doesn't matter what they look like."
Cody Eakin, Antoine Roussel and Roy each had a goal and an assist, while Brenden Morrow also scored for the Stars, who had lost four of six coming into the game. Richard Bachman made 16 stops in the win.
Nikita Nikitin, Cam Atkinson, Derek Dorsett and R.J. Umberger all scored for the Blue Jackets, who have lost three straight and six of seven overall. Bobrovsky stopped 34 shots in the loss.
"We've been in a lot of one-goal games lately, but we just can't get over that hump," said Umberger. "We've been staying in these games lately and that's a good sign that we're playing better as a team."
Dallas got the only goal of the first period when Eakin brought the puck in down the left wing and centered it where the disc hit off Morrow and went in with five minutes left in the frame.
The score stayed that way until the 81 seconds into the second period. Mark Letestu won a left circle faceoff back to Fedor Tyutin, who then sent it over to the high slot where Nikitin's one-timer beat Bachman to tie the game.
It was a 2-1 game in favor of Dallas just over four minutes later as Jamie Benn's slap shot was stopped, but Roy took a whack at the rebound then stuffed it in as it sat at the left post for his second goal of the season.
Columbus, though, got it back less than a minute later as Dorsett snapped a shot on net from the left circle and followed up his own rebound for his third goal of the campaign.
The scoring continued at the 8:51 mark of the second when Roussel potted his fourth of the season, but the Blue Jackets tied the game just over six minutes into the third on Atkinson's goal.
With 6:24 to play, the Stars made it a 4-3 game as Eakin's shot from the right circle trickled between the pads of Bobrovsky, but the Blue Jackets again tied the game with 1:34 left in regulation when Umberger gathered a Nick Foligno shot in the slot and wristed it in.Game Notes
