Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Blues traded Roman Polak to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Carl Gunnarsson in a swap of defenseman during Saturday's 2014 NHL Draft.

The Blues also received a fourth-round pick (No. 94 overall) as part of the exchange.

Polak had been a regular member of St. Louis' defense corps in each of the last six seasons and played in a total of 424 regular-season games since breaking into the NHL in 2006-07. The 28-year-old Czech tied a career high with four goals this past season, adding nine assists over 72 games.

Gunnarsson produced a team-best plus-12 rating while dressing for a personal- high 80 games for Toronto in 2013-14, finishing the season with three goals and 14 assists. The 27-year-old Swede has compiled 15 goals and 86 points over 304 NHL games, all with the Leafs.

With the added draft choice, St. Louis chose Finnish goaltender Ville Husso.
