Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Islanders have acquired goaltender Jaroslav Halak from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Halak will join his fourth team in two months. He was traded from St. Louis to Buffalo on March 1 as part of the deal that sent goaltender Ryan Miller to the Blues, then was shipped to Washington four days later without playing a game for the Sabres.

The 28-year-old native of Slovakia compiled a record of 29-13-7 with a 2.25 goals-against average in 52 games with the Blues and Capitals this season. He has also played for Montreal and owns a career mark of 144-85-29 with a 2.38 GAA and 30 shutouts in 272 NHL games.

Halak, selected by Montreal in the ninth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
