East Rutherford, NJ ( - New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning was forced out of Sunday's season finale against the Washington Redskins after spraining his left ankle late in the first half.

Manning came up limping after being hit by Redskins' lineman Chris Baker on an incomplete pass with around a minute remaining in the half. He stayed in the game and had his next attempt intercepted by Josh Wilson, then walked gingerly to the sidelines before being helped to the locker room just before the intermission.

Curtis Painter replaced Manning on New York's initial drive of the second half, with the Giants ruling their longtime starter out for the remainder of the game shortly afterward.

The interception was Manning's league-leading 27th of the season. He completed 10-of-24 throws for 152 yards and a touchdown prior to departing.
