Steelers extend Polamalu, Miller through 2016

Pittsburgh, PA ( - The Pittsburgh Steelers signed safety Troy Polamalu and tight end Heath Miller to new three-year contracts that will keep them with the team through the 2016 season.

Polamalu, who turns 33 next month, had 69 tackles, two interceptions and five forced fumbles in 16 games last season.

Originally selected by the Steelers with the 16th overall pick in the 2003 draft, Polamalu has 709 tackles, 32 interceptions, 12 sacks and 13 forced fumbles in 146 career games. An eight-time Pro Bowl selection, Polamalu was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2010.

Miller caught 58 passes for 593 yards and one touchdown in 14 games last season.

Originally taken by the Steelers in the first round of the 2005 draft, Miller has 466 receptions for 5,273 yards and 40 touchdowns in 137 career games.

Polamalu and Miller have each won two Super Bowls with Pittsburgh.
