Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Steelers lost Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey to a right knee injury on their first offensive series of the 2013 season.

Guard David DeCastro was pulling when he went low for a block and ended up cutting out the knees of Pouncey, who fell to the ground in obvious pain.

Pouncey was unable to put any pressure on his right leg. He was taken off the field on a cart.

The Steelers said that Pouncey is going to a local hospital for an MRI on his right knee.

Kelvin Beachum took over at center.
