Recap: Philadelphia vs. Dallas

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The discrepancy wasn't as big, but the Dallas Mavericks still inched the Philadelphia 76ers closer to a dubious distinction.

Tyson Chandler had 20 points, 13 rebounds and four steals as the Dirk Nowitzki-less Mavs defeated the Sixers 110-103 on Saturday night.

Dallas beat the Sixers by 53 points earlier this month.

Of the 10 teams in the last 20 years that have lost by 50-plus points, eight of them won the rematch.

Philly is now two losses away from tying the 2009-10 New Jersey Nets (0-18) for the worst start to an NBA season.

Monta Ellis posted 18 points, five assists and three swipes and Chandler Parsons tallied 17 points, six rebounds and six assists for Dallas, which has won three in a row and nine of its last 11 games.

"It was a grind all the way and I'm proud of the guys for the way they stuck together," Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said.

Nowitzki was given the night off to rest.

Michael Carter-Williams recorded 18 points, a career-high 16 assists and 10 rebounds, while K.J. McDaniels netted a career-high 21 points for the Sixers, who set a franchise record with their 16th consecutive defeat to start a year.

The 1972-73 Sixers began 0-15 en route to setting the NBA record for fewest losses in a season with nine.

"We've just gotta keep our group together and move them along," Sixers coach Brett Brown said.

The Sixers, who have held just four leads in the fourth quarter this season, were up 85-84 late in the third before the Mavericks went on a 12-1 run that bled into the final frame.

Chandler Parsons' 3-pointer in the final minute of the third helped Dallas take a 90-86 advantage into the fourth and a Devin Harris jumper preceded his steal and layup to cap the surge and give Dallas a 96-86 spread with 9:01 to play.

A McDaniels right wing triple pulled Philly within 98-94 midway through the fourth, but Ellis responded with consecutive buckets and the Sixers never got any closer.

Earlier, Dallas led 28-26 following a quarter of play and took a 58-51 margin into the break.

Game Notes

Philadelphia lost 123-70 in Dallas on Nov. 13. The Sixers had 28 turnovers and 23 made field goals in that game ... The Mavs netted 27 points on 24 Philly giveaways.
