Recap: New York vs. Philadelphia

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia 76ers provided the band aid that the New York Knicks needed on Saturday night.

Carmelo Anthony had 25 points and seven rebounds as the Knicks temporarily stopped the bleeding following a 91-83 win over the winless 76ers.

Philadelphia was the only team in the NBA heading in with fewer wins than the Knicks, who had dropped nine of their last 10 coming in.

Amar'e Stoudemire added 16 points and 11 boards for New York, which improved to 4-10 on the year.

Nerlens Noel posted 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Sixers, who are 0-13 on the season. They are two losses away from matching the franchise and NBA record for the worst start to a season, which was set in 1972-73.

The Knicks held a 46-41 third quarter advantage before seizing control with a 19-4 run.

Quincy Acy put in eight points during the surge, which was capped by a Pablo Prigioni triple for a healthy 65-45 New York spread late in the third.

The Knicks took a 71-54 lead into the fourth, where they cruised to the easy win.

Anthony netted nine quick points as the Knicks raced out to a 21-8 start and they led 25-13 following a quarter of play before heading into the break with a 46-39 cushion.

Game Notes

Knicks guard Jose Calderon made his season debut after missing the first 13 games with a calf injury. He had three points on 1-of-6 shooting ... New York shot 50 percent (33-of-66) from the floor and 19-of-21 from the foul line.
