Recap: Miami vs. Philadelphia

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Luol Deng scored 29 points, new acquisition Goran Dragic had 23 points and 10 assists and the Miami Heat pulled away in the second half for a 119-108 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

Dwyane Wade added 18 points and Hassan Whiteside had 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Heat, who remained in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.

They are 2-1 without star forward Chris Bosh, who the team learned last week will miss the remainder of the season because of blood clots in his lungs.

Deng missed just three of his 14 shots -- he was 4-of-5 on 3-pointers -- and Dragic saw his first win in a Heat uniform after being acquired, along with younger brother Zoran, from Phoenix at the trade deadline last week.

"It's great for us. It's giving us a new dynamic," Wade said of having Goran Dragic.

Another new addition, Henry Walker, had 11 points in his first NBA game in three years. Walker, who was signed to a 10-day contract by Miami on Saturday, took nine stitches to close a laceration near his eye in the second half.

Hollis Thompson made six 3-pointers and scored 22 to lead the Sixers, who have lost four in a row, including two straight to start a three-game road trip.

They have dropped 10 in a row on the road.

Nerlens Noel added 18 points, Robert Covington scored 16 and Ish Smith scored seven after being claimed off waivers from New Orleans on Sunday. Smith became the 23rd player to appear in a game for the Sixers this season.

Philadelphia coach Brett Brown said it's been tough getting everyone on the same page defensively.

"You're not beating anyone giving up 120 points," he said. "When you go back and look at the transition mistakes and the (poor coverage) on 3-pointers, we can teach better."

Philadelphia missed 13 of its 28 free throw attempts.

Dragic scored 11 in the third quarter and Miami overcame a six-point deficit to lead by 12 going into the fourth. Dragic and Deng led a 9-0 run that gave the Heat the lead.

The Sixers went ahead for the final time on Henry Sims' dunk with 5:45 left in the quarter before six consecutive points from Wade gave Miami the lead for good.

The Heat led by as much as 21 points in the fourth quarter while the Sixers never got closer than the final margin.

Robert Covington had five steals for Philadelphia in the first quarter, one shy of the franchise record for a quarter set by George McGinnis against Denver on Dec. 1, 1976.

The Heat shot nearly 62 percent in the quarter but led only 32-31 going into the second.

The Sixers took a five-point lead on Isaiah Canaan's 3 midway through the second quarter and still led by five before the Heat went on a 9-2 run that helped them take a 61-60 edge into halftime.

Canaan made the last bucket of the half, and the wildest, when he caught a loose ball out of the air near the 3-point line and fired off a shot in the same motion.
