Recap: Atlanta vs. Philadelphia

Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Paul Millsap and Kyle Korver each scored 17 points to help the Atlanta Hawks to a 95-79 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.

DeMarre Carroll posted 14 points with 11 rebounds and Al Horford chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds for the Hawks, who have won eight straight overall and five in a row at home.

"I thought our defense was pretty good, but it was just kind of a sloppy game all around," said Korver. "Neither team shot the ball well."

Luc Mbah a Moute paced the Sixers with 12 points, while Michael Carter- Williams filled the stat sheet with eight points, nine assists and 10 rebounds, but committed a team-high nine turnovers.

"I was late on a lot of stuff tonight," said Carter-Williams. "I was taking one too many dribbles, letting their defense rotate for steals. I should have given the ball up a little earlier."

Philadelphia, coming off its second win of the season on Saturday in Detroit, has dropped its past five games against Atlanta.

Atlanta scored the game's first seven points until Carter-Williams banked in a runner in the lane to get the Sixers on the board after 3:13. Philadelphia tied the score late in the first on K.J. McDaniels' dunk, but the Hawks brought a 25-21 lead into the second.

Carroll knocked down a 3-pointer with under five minutes to play in the half before Millsap converted a layup to push the margin to 41-31. Mike Muscala, who scored 12 points off the bench, netted a jumper later to extend the lead to a half-high 12, but the Sixers closed to within nine at the break.

Atlanta led by double-digits for most of the third quarter and took a 68-58 lead into the fourth.

Philadelphia went nearly 3 1/2 minutes without a basket to open the final frame until Alexey Shved knocked down a jumper to cut the deficit to 71-60.

Millsap answered at the other end with a 3 to give the Hawks their largest lead to that point and they did not have any problems closing out the lowly Sixers down the stretch.
