Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer was arrested Wednesday night on a drunk driving charge.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a Georgia State Patrol trooper stopped Budenholzer's vehicle at about 10:30 p.m. ET because its tail lights were not operating. He refused a breath test, but agreed to a field sobriety test.

Budenholzer was booked into the Atlanta City Jail and spokeswoman Ashanti Moore said in an email he was charged with driving under the influence and was released on $1,524 bond.

Hawks general manager Danny Ferry said the Hawks were looking further into the matter.

"Bud made us aware of the situation last night," Ferry said in a statement on Thursday. "We are in the process of gathering more information and will have further comment at the appropriate time."

Budenholzer was named the new Hawks coach in May after spending the past 19 seasons in San Antonio, the last 17 as an assistant coach.
