Washington, DC (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates reinstated second baseman Neil Walker from the 15-day disabled list and placed closer Jason Grilli on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday.

The 27-year-old Walker left a July 6 game with what was revealed to be a strained right oblique and missed the Pirates' last 11 games.

Walker hit .244 with six home runs and 26 RBI in 72 games prior to hitting the DL.

The 36-year-old Grilli strained his right forearm in Monday night's game against the Washington Nationals, which he left with two outs in the ninth.

Grilli, a first-time All-Star this season, has converted 30 of 31 save opportunities and owns a 2.34 earned run average over 45 appearances.

The Pirates also designated infielder Brandon Inge for assignment and will recall pitcher Vic Black from Triple-A Indianapolis.

The 36-year-old Inge, a 2009 All-Star, hit .181 with one home run in 50 games for the Pirates this season.

Black, 25, heads to the majors for the first time. He had a 2.31 ERA with 15 saves in 35 innings over 29 games for Indianapolis this season.
