San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rockies activated outfielder/first baseman Michael Cuddyer from the 15-day disabled Friday and named him the starting right fielder in the opener of a three-game series versus the San Francisco Giants.

Cuddyer was sent to the DL on May 12 with an inflamed cervical disc in his neck.

The 34-year-old veteran was off to a strong start in his second season with the club, posting a .319 batting average with seven homers and 23 RBI in 31 games.

On Wednesday, the Rockies optioned Opening Day second baseman Josh Rutledge to Triple-A Colorado Springs to make room on the roster.
