St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays reinstated starting pitcher Alex Cobb from the 60-day disabled listed on Thursday.
The right-hander landed on the disabled list after being struck in the head by a line drive on June 15 in a game against the Kansas City Royals. Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer hit the ball straight up the middle catching Cobb on the right side of his head.
He was diagnosed with a mild concussion and hasn't pitched in the majors since.
Cobb has a record of 6-2 with an ERA of 3.01 over 13 starts this season and is expected to take the mound against Seattle on Thursday.
Infielder Ryan Roberts was designated for assignment to make room for the pitcher.
