Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Texas Rangers Opening Day starter Matt Harrison will undergo surgery next week to fix a herniated disc, and is expected to be out of commission until at least the end of the All-Star break.

The Dallas Morning News revealed the news on Friday, nine days after Harrison landed on the 15-day disabled list with a back issue.

The left-hander was 0-2 with an 8.44 earned run average in two starts this season after going 18-11 with a 3.29 ERA in 2012.
