MLB announces 2013 Championship Series umpires

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Major League Baseball has announced the umpiring crews for the American and National League Championship Series matchups.

The NLCS is scheduled to begin Friday in St. Louis, while the ALCS commences Saturday in Boston.

Gerry Davis will be the crew chief and the home plate umpire for the opener between the Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers. Joining Davis will be Ted Barrett, Mark Carlson, Bruce Dreckman, Mike Everitt and Greg Gibson.

Joe West has been chosen to lead the crew and call balls and strikes in Game 1 of the series between the Red Sox and Detroit Tigers. Dale Scott, Rob Drake, Dan Iassogna, Ron Kulpa and Alfonso Marquez comprise the rest of the umpiring team.
