Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Francisco Giants placed first baseman Brandon Belt on the 7-day disabled list due to recurring effects from a concussion he sustained three weeks ago.

Belt had missed 12 games after being struck in the face by a throw during batting practice prior to a July 19 contest at Miami. He returned to action last week, but went just 4-for-21 at the plate and was forced to sit out Thursday's game at Milwaukee after experiencing headaches.

Infielder Matt Duffy was recalled from Double-A Richmond to take Belt's roster spot.

Belt had previously missed nearly two months with a fractured left thumb suffered in early May. The 26-year-old has appeared in only 51 games this season, batting .237 with 11 home runs and 24 RBI.
