Recap: Cleveland vs. Tampa Bay

Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Colome threw scoreless ball into the seventh inning and three relievers combined for a five-hit shutout as Tampa Bay silenced Cleveland, 2-0, in the middle portion of a season-ending three- game series.

Colome (2-0) worked the first 6 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out six. Joel Peralta completed the seventh, Grant Balfour retired the side in order in the eighth and Jake McGee struck out the side in the ninth to pick up his 19th save.

"They were very efficient," Rays manager Joe Maddon said about his bullpen.

Wil Myers ended up with two hits and an RBI for the Rays, while James Loney knocked in the other run.

Carlos Carrasco (8-7) fanned a career-best 10 batters, but walked three and allowed four hits and two runs -- one earned -- over 7 2/3 frames for the Indians, who had won two in a row.

"He's got so much to be excited about going into the offseason and into next year," said Indians manager Terry Francona.

Tampa picked up all the offense it needed in the fourth. David DeJesus singled, moved to third on Lonnie Chisenhall's throwing error that allowed Evan Longoria to take first, then scored on Myers' one-out single.

Ben Zobrist began the eighth with a hit, stole second, went to third on a DeJesus grounder, then scored as Loney greeted Marc Rzepczynski with an infield hit to second.

Colome stranded a runner on third in the first inning, then left two on in the fifth after fanning Mike Aviles. That was Cleveland's last best chance to push across a run in the contest.

Game Notes

Tampa's staff has accounted for 22 shutouts and the Rays have been blanked 18 times ... Indians left fielder Michael Brantley went 1-for-4, becoming the first member of the Tribe to reach 200 hits since Kenny Lofton in 1996, and became the first Indian to post 20 homers, 20 stolen bases, 40 doubles and 200 hits in one season.
