Recap: LA Angels vs. Texas

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Rua's first major league homer came in the ninth inning and lifted the Texas Rangers to a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Sunday.

With the game tied after eight innings, Rua blasted a 1-2 pitch over the wall in left off Angels closer Huston Street (1-2) to give the Rangers the lead. Texas then loaded the bases on a single by J.P. Arencibia, double by Luis Sardinas and an intentional walk to Leonys Martin. Street worked out of trouble, however, getting Adam Rosales to ground into a 4-6-3 double play.

"It came at a good time," Rua said. "I'm still trying to process my first home run. The main thing is we won the game."

Neftali Feliz needed just 12 pitches in the ninth to strike out the side and earn his 11th save of the season.

Shawn Tolleson (3-1) picked up the win in relief of Nick Tepesch, who allowed one run on four hits over seven innings.

Cory Rasmus started for the Angels and lasted four innings, surrendering just two hits and a walk.

"Each start Cory gets a little better," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "He put us in a position that we wanted to be in, but we couldn't get any offense going."

Both teams plated a run in the sixth inning. The Rangers loaded the bases with one out, but Fernando Salas struck out Jake Smolinski. Tomas Telis came up clutch in the following at-bat, reaching on an infield single that scored Martin.

Chris Iannetta then singled to begin the home sixth, moved up to second on a groundout and scored on Albert Pujols' single to left.
