Recap: Texas vs. Minnesota

Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Kendrys Morales drove in the winning run in the top of the ninth inning, helping the Minnesota Twins end their road woes with a 3-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Sunday.

Josh Willingham started the ninth-inning rally with a single to center off Joakim Soria (1-3). Sam Fuld was brought on to pinch-run for him at first and scored easily as Morales' sharp liner to the corner in left field caromed away from Michael Choice.

The Twins ended a five-game slide with the triumph, but more importantly halted a near-historic road losing streak. They had dropped 10 straight away from home, one shy of matching the third worst skid since the franchise moved to Minnesota in 1961.

Kyle Gibson (7-6) went eight strong innings for the Twins, limiting the Rangers to two runs on eight hits.

"It was a good team win," Gibson said. "It finished up a great day."

Glen Perkins struck out the side in the ninth for his 20th save.

Shin-Soo Choo singled to start the bottom of the first inning and moved to second on Carlos Pena's groundout. Adrian Beltre plated the Rangers leadoff hitter with a single to right for an early 1-0 advantage.

The Twins got two back in the third against Texas starter Colby Lewis, who struck out eight in six two-run innings of work.

Eduardo Escobar led off the third with a double and Jorge Polanco drove him in with a check swing dribbler to left two batters later. After Brian Dozier went down swinging down for the second out, Joe Mauer knocked in the go-ahead run with a grounder up the middle.

Robinson Chirinos crushed a solo home run in the fifth inning to tie the score at 2-2, and it held until Morales won it in the ninth.

"I'm feeling better at the plate," Chirinos said. "I've been working a lot to improve my game."

Game Notes

Willingham went 2-for-4. He had just two hits in 24 at-bats during Minnesota's 10-game road losing skid ... Lewis is winless in seven career starts against the Twins ... The Rangers have lost nine of 11.
