Pittsburgh Pirates (71-68) at Chicago Cubs (64-76), 4:05 p.m. (ET)

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs will spend an ample amount of time together on the field Saturday when the two clubs hope to resume a three-game series at Wrigley Field.

Friday's series opener was suspended because of rain and will resume this afternoon with the originally scheduled contest to follow. The teams were tied 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning when the game was delayed for a second time because of bad weather. The game will resume at 3 p.m. ET with one out and no runners on base for the Pirates.

Josh Harrison already has three hits, including a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run scored, while Jose Tabata is 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Pirates. Vance Worley got the start for Pittsburgh and lasted 4 2/3 innings, allowing three runs, two of which were earned.

The Pirates have lost four in a row and are currently in the midst of a 10- game road trip. They were just swept in three games at St. Louis, which leads the Central by five games over the Pirates. Pittsburgh is two games off a wild card spot and will also visit Philadelphia for four games.

Francisco Liriano will start the nightcap for the Pirates and 3-10 with a 3.91 earned run average. He is 0-3 in his last six starts and 3-2 with a 2.59 ERA in eight career starts against the Cubs.

As for Chicago, Chris Valaika had two hits and an RBI, while Luis Valbuena scored twice before the contest was postponed.

Cubs starting pitcher Tsuyoshi Wada permitted three runs (2 earned) in 3 2/3 innings.

The Cubs, winners in nine of the last 14 and six straight at home, recorded a three-game sweep of the struggling Milwaukee Brewers with Wednesday's 6-2 victory. Cubs outfielder Jorge Soler, who has hit safely in all seven games since making his major-league debut, has 11 RBI already and has only gone one game without driving in at least one run. He is currently 0-for-2 at the plate.

Felix Doubront will make his second start with the Cubs and his debut went well in Saturday's 5-1 win at St. Louis, as he fired seven innings of one-run ball. Doubront has never faced the Pirates.

Pittsburgh is 9-4 against Chicago this season and will host the Cubs for three games from Sept. 12-14 at PNC Park.
