Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Hainley Statia hit a two-run homer and the Milwaukee Brewers smacked the Kansas City Royals, 9-1, in spring training action on Wednesday.
Alex Gonzalez clubbed a solo homer with two RBI and Aramis Ramirez contributed a two-run single for Milwaukee, which received 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball out of starter Yovani Gallardo. He struck out two and gave up just two hits.
Kansas City starter Luis Mendoza took the loss, tagged for six runs -- four earned -- on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings. Xavier Nady drove in the Royals' only run with a solo homer in the fourth inning.
