Recap: Atlanta vs. Miami

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Pinch-hitter Donovan Solano drove in the winning run with a two-out single in the ninth inning to help the Miami Marlins beat the Atlanta Braves, 4-3, in the rubber match of a three-game set at Turner Field.

Craig Kimbrel (2-2) walked Ed Lucas and Logan Morrison with a strikeout in between to start the ninth. He then fanned Marcell Ozuna, but Solano stroked a slider to the opposite field to score Lucas.

"That's what we need is some timely hitting because we're playing good defense," said Morrison. "As long as we keep improving and keep going forward, I don't see any reason why we can't keep winning."

Ozuna finished 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI, while Lucas batted in a run as well for Miami, who topped the Braves for a second straight night after losing the first four meetings between the teams this season.

A.J. Ramos (3-2) threw two scoreless innings to earn the win. Steve Cishek stranded one in the ninth thanks to a diving catch by right fielder Giancarlo Stanton that helped secure the victory and his 17th save of the year.

Brian McCann collected two hits while driving in a run and Freddie Freeman had two RBI for the Braves, who visit NL East division foe Philadelphia on Friday for a three-game series.

Miami chipped away at an early 3-0 deficit with runs in three straight innings.

After the first four Miami batters struck out, Ozuna crushed a hanging curveball from Julio Teheran in the second to put the Marlins on the board.

Jeff Mathis and Justin Ruggiano singled in the third to put runners on the corners. Lucas' one-out grounder to second scored Mathis and cut the lead to one.

Morrison doubled on the first pitch of the fourth and Ozuna drove him in with an RBI single up the middle to tie the game at 3-3.

Miami had a chance to take the lead in the sixth when Derek Dietrich led off with a double off the right-field wall. Adeiny Hechavarria followed with a slapper into center field to put runners on the corners with no outs, but David Carpenter was able to get the next batters to escape the jam.

The Braves jumped on Miami starter Henderson Alvarez early. Andrelton Simmons singled and Jason Heyward doubled in the first. After a pop out, Freeman's line-drive singled to center drove in both runners. McCann followed with a double to center to make it 3-0 Atlanta.

Alvarez retired 11 straight after allowing the McCann double.

"We had some opportunites and scored three runs right off the start," said Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez. "But we couldn't get much going after that and they just kept chipping away."
