Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Mariners have brought back catcher Humberto Quintero on a minor league contract, the team announced Monday.
The agreement includes an invitation to the team's spring training camp.
Quintero split last season between the Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies, batting a combined .237 with four home runs and 13 RBI over 46 games. In the field, the journeyman backstop threw out 36.4 percent (12-of-33) percent of runners attempting to steal.
The 34-year-old owns a career .234 average over 11 major league seasons. Quintero broke into the big leagues with San Diego in 2003 and has played for Houston and Kansas City in addition to the Padres, Phillies and Mariners.
