Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Mariners announced Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms with outfielder Michael Saunders on a contract for the upcoming season.

Saunders, a first-time arbitration-eligible player, started 109 games for the Mariners last season and batted .236 with 12 home runs, 46 RBI and 13 stolen bases. The 27-year-old established career bests of 19 homers, 57 RBI and 21 steals while appearing 139 games the previous year.

The native Canadian owns a .224 career average with 43 homers and 148 RBI over parts of five major league seasons, all with Seattle.

Seattle now has just two players slated for arbitration that have yet to be signed, first baseman Justin Smoak and offseason acquisition Logan Morrison.
