Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Mariners placed designated hitter Corey Hart on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday due to a hamstring strain he sustained over the weekend.
Hart hurt his left hamstring while stealing a base during Sunday's 6-2 win in Minnesota, then flew back to Seattle on Monday's off day for an MRI that revealed the strain.
The 32-year-old missed the entire 2013 season while with Milwaukee as he recovered from surgery on his left knee.
Hart has homered five times and driven in 17 runs in 37 games this season, but owns just a .209 average and struck out 31 times in 139 at-bats.
Utilityman Nick Franklin was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma and will be available for Tuesday's game at Texas.
Franklin, Seattle's primary second baseman in 2013, went just 2-for-16 in a short stint with the Mariners earlier this season. However, he was leading the Pacific Coast League with a .376 average while recording seven homers and 26 RBI at the time of this promotion.
