Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain is back on the disabled list, this time with right elbow inflammation, while first baseman Brandon Belt was placed on the 7-day concussion list.

It will be Cain's third stint on the DL this season. He was shelved in late April after cutting his finger on a kitchen knife while making a sandwich and was sidelined in late May with a right hamstring injury.

Cain has struggled on the mound as well this season, posting a record of 2-7 with a 4.18 ERA in 15 starts. He last pitched on July 9, earning the win in six effective innings against Oakland when he allowed two runs on five hits in a 5-2 victory, but was given extra rest after the All-Star break because of the elbow pain.

The right-hander will be replaced in the rotation by Yusmeiro Petit, who will start Tuesday against Philadelphia. Petit has already made five starts in Cain's place this season and for the year has a record of 3-3 with a 3.86 ERA in 26 appearances.

Belt was hit in the face with a throw while fielding at first base during batting practice prior to Saturday's game against the Marlins. He left the contest in the bottom of the third after complaining of headaches and dizziness.

The 26-year-old had just returned on July 4 after nearly two months on the DL because of a fractured left thumb. He is batting .242 with 10 homers and 23 RBI in 46 games this season, but was leading the Giants with nine homers when he originally was sidelined in early May.

San Francisco recalled pitcher George Kontos and infielder Adam Duvall from Triple-A Fresno to fill the vacant roster spots.
