Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to terms with pitcher Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez, announced General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr on Friday.

Gonzalez, 26, inked a three-year, $12 million contract with the Phillies with the expectation that he will make his major league debut later this season.

The right-hander is a member of the Cuban National Team that participated in the 2009 and 2011 World Cups. Between the two tournaments, Gonzalez posted a 3-1 record with a 2.91 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 34 innings.

"We are very pleased to have come to an agreement with Miguel," said Amaro. "He is someone our scouts have followed for several years and in our most recent observations of him he showed tremendous stuff."

To make room for Gonzalez on the 40-man roster, John Lannan has been moved to the 60-day disabled list.
