Phillies' Revere breaks right foot

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Philadelphia Phillies center fielder Ben Revere sustained a broken right foot in the 11th inning of Saturday's opener of a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox.

Revere fouled a pitch off the inside of his right foot in the bottom of the frame before grounding into a game-ending double play, allowing the White Sox to finish off a 5-4 victory.

X-rays taken after the game revealed the break in the former Minnesota Twin's right foot. He will be evaluated by a specialist Monday.

Revere extended his hit streak to 10 games with a 2-for-6 effort in the setback to push his season average to .305.

The injury comes at a tough time for the 25-year-old speedster, who entered Saturday's twinbill batting a red-hot .347 since the end of April.
