Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics took a gamble and made a move to bolster their bullpen on Wednesday, agreeing to terms with reliever Eric O'Flaherty on a two-year contract.

No financial terms were disclosed by the club, but reports cite the deal is worth $7 million.

The 28-year-old left-hander finished 2013 with a 3-0 record and 2.50 earned run average in 19 appearances last season for the Braves. He did not pitch after May 17 due to elbow trouble, and underwent Tommy John surgery a short time later. He isn't expected to be ready for a return to the mound until mid- season. `

Over eight major-league seasons with Seattle and Atlanta, O'Flaherty owns a 20-9 mark with a 2.85 ERA in 373 games, all in relief.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the A's designated outfielder Corey Brown for assignment.

Brown collected two hits in 12 at-bats, including a home run, in a 14-game September call-up with the Nationals. He was acquired from Washington for cash considerations on Dec. 19.
